Here are the bios of the faculty who will be involved in the workshops in March 2014.
Director of Training Partnerships and Alliances
Howard I. Finberg is the director of partnerships and alliances at The Poynter Institute. In this role Finberg looks for new training partners, oversees the business side of the Institute’s e-learning site and handles the business development aspects of Poynter’s international teaching. He also looks at new revenue opportunities, mostly related to Poynter training. Previously Finberg was responsible for the creation of Poynter’s e-learning project, News University. NewsU (www.newsu.org) launched in 2005 and has more than 220,000 users in 225 countries, accessing more than 300 training modules.

Dallas Morning News Sunday and Enterprise Editor, Diversity Fellow
Tom Huang is Sunday & Enterprise Editor at The Dallas Morning News and Ethics and Diversity Fellow at The Poynter Institute. In 2008, he taught ethics, diversity and leadership issues at Poynter. He is co-editor of Poynter’s Best Newspaper Writing book for 2008-2009.
Sue Burzynski Bullard
Associate Professor of Journalism
Sue Burzynski Bullard teaches editing, reporting and multimedia classes. She joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty in August 2008 after a year as a visiting editor-in-residence at Michigan State University. Before heading to the classroom, Sue held a variety of editing positions during 21 years at The Detroit News, including three years as managing editor. In that role, she was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the newsroom. She supervised nearly 300 journalists and helped to integrate print and online newsrooms.

Sue Burzynski Bullard
Executive Editor of the News-Democrat and http://bnd.com in Belleville Illinois
Jeffry Couch is editor and vice president of the Belleville News-Democrat and bnd.com in southwestern Illinois. He has held editing and reporting posts in North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois and in his home state of Pennsylvania since 1980.
Couch oversees a staff of about 40 people at the BND, the largest news organization in southern Illinois. The BND’s core coverage area is known as the Metro-east, a handful of counties across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Mo. The news organization is best known for its regional and statewide watchdog reporting as well as other enterprising local coverage.

Visiting Assistant Professor, University of South Florida St. Petersburg
Casey Frechette is a visiting assistant professor in the journalism and media studies department at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, a Web strategist and consultant with USFSP’s Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, and an adjunct with The Poynter Institute.
Casey teaches and writes about digital media and researches the role of technology in learning.
Business Development for Tru Measure (a division of The McClatchy Company)
Zella Bracy’s current position is as Business Development for Tru Measure (a division of The McClatchy Company), where she is developing new business partnerships and relationships, leveraging her digital media expertise and experience along with connections to the publisher industry.
While in a previous role at The McClatchy Company as Digital Revenue Manager for Strategic Initiatives. Zella worked closely with the Tru Measure team during the build-out and launch of the impressLOCAL product suite. a key initiative of The McClatchy Company’s SMB strategy. She also utilized her broad understanding of digital revenue opportunities to drive a variety of key digital revenue initiatives during her tenure.
Interactive Learning Producer
Vidisha Priyanka is currently working with Poynter NewsU as an Interactive Learning Producer.
Vidisha worked as Planning Editor for digital video at TBO.com, media partner of The Tampa Tribune and WFLA-TV, News Channel 8. She also worked as an Audience Editor and News and Special Projects producer for almost 10 years and helped focus resources on serving news audience.
